So, last weekend we adopted a dog. We've been tossing the idea of getting a dog around for years, really, but we lately decided that a dog might help with the girl's anxieties in addition to being a family companion who could help us be better about going for walks and getting fresh air.

Finally have both the kids back to school this week. Three weeks is a long time for kids to kick around at home when they don't have friends living close by--the joys of living in suburban L.A. and going to a magnet school. I've been writing tons and tons for NaNo. I think I'm burning out a little at this point, but that's actually okay because starting tomorrow, we have back-to-back house guests until after Thanksgiving.  The cat just went to lick her butt and rolled right off the end of the bed. I was looking up just at the right moment to see the shocked look on her face as she went over the edge.
